Operation become a Blogger

True, social networks are something viral that have become a means of communication so fast it is now a profession.
The blogosphere and YouTube are examples of these social networks that serve to expand business and contacts. At first it was just a joke, simple exchange of ideas and used as tools of expression as well. But this game has become a serious matter that takes a large proportion in the market. It is so serious that there are long-term specialised courses in how to become a blogger.
In Brazil it is fashionable. The market asks for professionals specialised in the field of digital social media.
I lost all the interviews I’ve done in which one of the requirements was to coordinate the company’s social media. For example, caring for the brand’s image, looking for new online customers, always updating the site, exposing the best of the company etc.
Indeed the Internet is serious business and social media gains an enormous importance to the success of a brand. Just below is a short interview with Paola Cioppi, 28 years old, who apart from being a dietitian decided to dedicate her time to her blog My Unsettling Life.
CF: Paola, you have a degree in dietetics but decided to be a blogger, what made you choose this new path?
Paola: Life’s situations. I have always liked to write and in 2008 I was introduced to blogging. At the time I was a flight attendant, so my blog would be about my job. The company I worked for asked me to delete my blog, and so I stopped blogging for a few years. I decided then to become a dietitian, in which I went to university for and graduated. I worked a little while as a personal dietitian, but I was dating an Englishman and so I spent most my time flying between Brazil and England. I then got married and moved to England, but documentations take long to process and meanwhile I am not allowed to work in my field. I couldn’t stand still, I needed to wrap my head around something, so I started blogging again.
CF: Can you profit from the blog?
Paola At first I did not get any profit, but over time, the more I dedicated myself to it, the more followers I had, and this caught the attention of some small businesses that contacted me to advertise on my blog. This time though I knew exactly what I wanted to achieve. England has many blogging events, and the more I integrated myself in those, the more I discovered the universe of opportunities. Also I got involved in communities for networking, with these I widened my contacts, and reached more followers. Participating in conferences and festivals also helps advertising, and the great thing about these events is that everything in there is related to blogging, YouTube and social media. From bands playing that make YouTube videos to people that post recipes online and share their food. The key in those events is to take business cards and make more contacts by chatting and handing them your card.
CF: How many hours a day do you spend? And what media do you like best?
Paola: I spend almost 8 hours a day, including weekends. It’s a job like any other. I have a schedule of plans with statistics and goals that must be achieved. So I organise myself with time; posts and the days that they are aired; and the amount of views and new followers. I personally prefer Pinterest and Instagram because they work with images and people are more attracted by those visuals.
In My Unsettling Life’s page you will find all the other social media Paola has, so go on check it out.
That’s it. If you want to order food online, flirt, open your own business, have new friends, see your doctor, take a course, buy clothes etc. There’s all these possibilities on the Internet; the solution is to sit and look for what you want on the computer, surely you will find it. Every day another social network is born.
What’up? Want to be a blogger? Why not?
