Experience London’s Christmas magic

What’s up? Are you ready for Christmas? I’m looking forward to mine, it’s the first time I spend it away from my family in another country.
This season is so magical! The City of London begins to change its appearance in November. Many streets are adorned with Christmas decorations; shops, parks, museums, restaurants are transformed as Christmas dominates its surroundings.
People see an opportunity to be in solidarity with each other by making donations and participating in some volunteer work.
Speaking of volunteering, here is a tip of two very interesting sites: http://www.volunteering.org.uk, where you can register and volunteer not only just at Christmas but during the whole year, as there are always opportunities to help those in need in various regions of England. The second site, http://www.workaway.info, is similar but it is worth noting that you will have the opportunity to do this kind of work both in England and around the world as well.
There are a lot of events that you can enjoy with all the family and friends in London. If you’re not sure on what to do I’ve listed some interesting places that will make your Christmas more special and fun.
Ice Skating
– Canary Wharf (http://www.icerinkcanarywharf.co.uk)
– Somerset House (http://www.somersethouse.org.uk)
Amusement park, attractions and markets
– Hyde Park Winter Wonderland (http://www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com)
– Victoria Park, Winterville
Tours
– Hogwarts In The Snow, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter (https://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/)
Surely all the above listed are worth your participation as there are several interesting entertainments. The Hogwarts In The Snow – even if your aren’t a fan of Harry Potter – should make for a thrilling and pleasurable evening. Held on 3rd December, visitors will get a studio tour, view the famous scenes and attend dinner with themed meals and drinks seen served in the movie. This all whist nestling amongst Christmas decorations to keep you in the spirit. This at least promises to be an amazing live experience.
And for those seeking something quieter just enjoy the Christmas lights. I advise you to go on the main streets and tourist sites, seeing as they still hold a traditional charm about them. Oxford Street, Covent Garden, Regent Street, Marylebone High Street, Leadenhall Market, Bond Street and Trafalgar Square will all look amazing as Christmas climax approaches.
Trafalgar Square will have its lighting ceremony inaugurated on 3rd December. For those who do not know, every year Norway donates a large Christmas tree for Trafalgar Square that is exposed and lit up with Norwegian style decorations. This touch of tradition and a token of appreciation for the help that England gave Norway in World War II has occurred annually since 1947.
For those who feel less inspired this Christmas, these suggestions will help you program the holiday season better, should you choose to take them into account. London has something for everyone. You can save money by participating in free events or strolling the streets and seeing the beauty of the Christmas scenery. If you spend a little bit more you will have an experience to remember for a lifetime.
I wish you all a great Christmas with lots of love, affection and peace, in the hope that all families are blessed. Do not forget the voluntary work or a gesture of solidarity. Merry Christmas!
