Heads up! Medicine with milk is a risk

Did you know that taking some medicine with other liquids instead of water can be a mistake? For those who take medications with milk, soda, juice and tea and think that the medicine will still work correctly are in for a surprise.
Depending on the composition of the fluid, the drug may alter from its correct absorbtion and the affect of it will be reduced. The important thing is that you discuss this with the doctor because it also depends on the type of drug being used.
For example, some are recommended to be digested on a full stomach thereby avoiding the gastric irritation. Others must be taken minutes before a meal or eaten in water, whilst most doctors recommend taking the liquid medications without any kind of liquid, otherwise it will decrease the intake concentration.
Focusing more on the type of liquids consumed, it is medically proven that it is not idea to drink milk, soda, juice and tea with some medicines. As a refrigerated milk can inhibit drug reaction, by decreasing the pH of the stomach, making it more acidic changing its dissolution.
Calcium and some milk contains nutrients which can react with the substances contained in the medicine and can cause chemical inactivation. The refrigerant, in fact as many know, is a liquid that does not add and contains no nutritional value for our body, and may contain too much sugar, caffeine, flavoyr, acidity etc.
When consumed with the drug, it complicates the absorption and elimination of the ingested substance. Often, the person finds that the drug had no affect and they take a second tablet, causing poisoning. Any remedy to be ingested, goes directly to the stomach turning into liquid whilst being distributed and reacting through the whole body. What has already passes and is of no use to the body is discarded. Because the refrigerant inhibits liver enzymes it blocks this elimination.
Tea, which seem harmless, as the chamomile, peppermint, fennel, among others, hinder a bit by modifying the stomach movement, more retarding the absorption of the drug by the body. Furthermore, the drug blend with some teas can lead to dangerous reactions. Chamomile tea, for example, is an active principle which thins the blood, and if the medicine presents an anticoagulant action, when taken together it may cause bleeding to occur.
Finally, juices have always been seen as good health drinks by having a combined substance called flavonoid, which is found in fruits and vegetables. This substance is an antioxidant which prevents ageing and is great for the heart. With some drugs, juices must be used with caution. These flavonoids have the ability to block some enzymes that act on the uptake of water soluble substances. In the gut, these enzymes are responsible for releasing the drug in the patient’s bloodstream.
So in general, pay attention! Take up all doubts with the doctor in regards to the medicines that you consume.
Remember! Never automedique – drugs taken improperly may pose you health risks.
