Nostalgia with classic movies

I remember many nice and innocent films that marked my childhood. I bet that they marked the childhood of many people. Don’t you love those famous classic movies that gather friends and family around a TV, noticeably more on a Sunday?
The Goonies is one of those films, produced in 1985 by the great Steven Spielberg. I lost count of how many times I’ve watched it. Looking back at that time, the cast was not at all famous but now most of them are world renowned actors and household names.

This is the case with actor Sean Astin, who played the character of Sam in Lord of the Rings and Josh Brolin, who stars in this year’s action blockbuster Everest.
There are rumours that the new Goonies film will continue with the same cast. There are no firm details yet, but Warner Bros, will be responsible of developing the film, and it is projected that the film will reach cinemas between years 2016 and 2017. Every project takes a long time and to be fair it is even harder when you are looking to remake such an old movie. There are many factors involved and it takes a lot of time to make sure everything goes well and the integrity maintained.
Another film that Warner Bros want to develop that will cause a lot of nostalgia is the remake of classic Gremlins. Chris Columbus, screenwriter of both Gremlins films (original and sequel), confirmed the news that Warner Bros would proceed with the project with or without him. As a result, Columbus chose to participate in a role in orde to preserve the sanctity of the original films in some way.
I can cite other unforgettable classics…

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, a film released in 1988, introduced me to the beautiful and sensual wonders of Cassandra Peterson (protagonist and co-writer). I joined the legions of girls who dressed up for fancy dress to mimic her look for Halloween. This character was so successful that it had its own program in 1993, The Elvira Show.
Still a hit today, it has been confirmed that Elvira, Mitress of the Dark will gain an animated series for TV. Cassandra Peterson explains that Elvira continue her adventures in an eternal quest for fame. Children of today may not know who the character of Elvira is so it will be interesting to see how the cartoon turns out.
Addams Family is another classic films that pulls on my nostalgic heart strings. In my opinion the death of actor Raul Julia, who played the character of Gomez Addams, halted the potential of more movies and didn’t allow them to capture a greater audience. Despite this, Addams Family has eternal characters.

Well, it will be returning to the cinema in cartoon form. Pamela Petter, who was hired to sign the script, is known for animated films Monster House and Corpse Bride. It will be interesting to see a different animation about this lovely family, since animated movies are very successful these days.
To end my list of classic childhood movies I throw a curve ball. Does anyone remember Hocus Pocus?
The film released in 1993 tells the story of three wicked witches Winnie (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mary (Kathy Najimy), killed in the seventeenth century and awoken on Halloween in the 90s. Adults who grew up with this film beg that Bette Midler will return to do another film.

Midler seems keens but urges fans to talk to Walt Disney as they are responsible for the rights of the film. She recently jokes on Twitter that the film is delayed because they were looking for a virgin (obviously that is a great reference to the original film). Looks like the actresses would want to do it but it really depends on Disney1
There are so many examples of old movies that i couldn’t fit them all into this article. So, I listed those films that marked my childhood but is there a film that marked yours?
