It is
the first time we spent the New Year in London.
The
expectation was huge, I was anxious to see the beauty of the fireworks around
the London Eye.
My
husband and I calculate everything right, for everything is under control.
We
took a bottle of wine and some nuts to eat. 6:30pm we were at the bus stop.
Upon
arriving at the location, everything was surrounded by police and a metal
barrier.
We
realised that there was a ticket to go beyond this enclosure, that is, to see
the close fireworks, we had to buy and pay £10 for this ticket on the website.
If we
knew before, we definitely would have bought.
Despite
the cold, we walked a lot, we wanted to find a passage that we could at least
see the London Eye closer, but everything was closed.
Until
we give up to seek this passage, it was virtually impossible to find it.
We
chose a place nearby, or rather, less distant, which gave to view the
fireworks.
We
sat on a staircase of a building and drank wine and ate nuts to warm us.
With
15 minutes to 00:00, it was impossible to get around with so many people and
their cameras pointing to London Eye, including our own.
Were
10 minutes of fireworks, we can not see how it is actually seen on TV; I was
disappointed by that.
We
try to at least get into the barrier that was opened near the Ferris Wheel but
still had police controlling people leaving, preventing our entry.
It
was an experience a bit frustrating we did not get close to see how it is.
When
we returned just thought the next day with the first event in January that has
all year, "The New Year's Day Parade".
We
counted with this event to better celebrate our new year.
The
experience of the event was nicer than the night before.
It
began in Piccadilly at noon and ended around 15:30 in Parliament Square.
It
was nice to see the schools with instrumental bands performing, and also have
cheerleaders, floats, acrobats, horses etc...
There
was 20 countries being represented.
It's
a lot of people involved; on the official website says that there are over 8500
participants, that is, hard work and dedication to entertain everyone, free of
charge.
I
loved seeing the bands playing famous songs of great success as Bruno Mars, and
the cheerleaders who did an excellent choreography.
I was
able to see firsthand the work as a whole.
Next
year I don't know if we will go to the new years eve in London, but if it
happens, we will not forget to buy the ticket and for sure we will see again
The New Year's Parade.
